The Spectacle at MGM COTAI is made possible thanks to the hard work of MGM employees who undergo extensive training in order to develop the skills necessary to operate the most advanced audiovisual technology in the world.
MGM China Holdings Limited CEO Grant Bowie sits down to explain that while the technology and jaw-dropping content get all the glory, the employees are the real unsung heroes of the Spectacle. Many of the team now responsible for its day-to-day operations were completely unfamiliar with the technologies Electrosonic had integrated into the atrium. That’s why MGM COTAI initiated a year-long training program to transform its workers into skilled audiovisual professionals. Resort Technology Team members Anson Ip & Leo Tang provide a first-hand account of their experiences in completing the training program and explain the path they took with MGM to refine their skills abroad and bring them back home.
Now fully comfortable with the hardware and software, the Resort Technology Team undertake some of the most exciting tasks at the Spectacle, ensuring guests to the resort enjoy the most innovative digital art immersion ever undertaken before. Assistant Vice President of Digital & Technology Solutions Derek Watterud and Director of Resort Technology at MGM Darren Kopas discuss the employee training program and its effectiveness in up-skilling workers into professional AV technicians, explaining that the ability of MGM employees to adapt to changing roles within the company helps deliver on the desired guest experience to bring world-class experience during every visit to the resort.
